Italian American Playwright, Robert Michael Fillicetti-Bartel, aka "Rocco", was born in Chicago, lived on the Southside, went to Catholic Grade Schools, and later moved Cicero.
Growing up in the 50's, he went to Sherlock Grade School. Bob’s Italian American parents were second generation Italian Americans, both whom lived in Little Italy in the 20's and 30's. His Father was Michael Anthony Tellerino, his Mother was Anna Fillicetti. He also has many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. His family roots go back to Naples, Sicily and other areas of Italy.
He was raised from the Bartel family from his childhood. His Mother Ann told Bob about his family of Italians whom he had gotten to know over the course of some 45 years or so, before she passed away in 2011.
Being a all around writer but, writing in the last 18 years, primarily for stage and screen plays, his award winning DVD(a film called, “A Beatle In Benton”), is in the Rock N Roll Hall of FAME, and he has many scripts to his name, including the movie script to this play, THE LONG JOURNEY END.
As told by Bob and quoting in his own words, “My Dinner Theatre script of DINNER WITH THE MAFIA ~UNSMOOTH CRIMI-NAL BEHAVIOR is a story close to my own family heart, as my Mother told me of her upbringing and the stories of her youth in Little Italy and her mother, father, sisters, and brothers, growing up during the great depression.
For example, my mother told me that Big Al Capone was from the same village area as our family. She told me so many stories about Big Al helping out the Italian families with food money, jobs, and whatever help he could do to protect them from the Northside Gangs, who had been trying to push Big Al and his friends around on the Southside. Hence came my version of the Pizza Wars.
Thin Crust Vs Thick Crust! Now known in my story as the Great Pizza Wars or as you will see here in THE DINNER WITH THE MAFIA~ UNSMOOTH CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. Louie is your host and the D.O.A. PLAYERS will keep you guessing and laughing all the way during your visit back to 1930’s, here in Chicago.
The play as it is written is a trilogy this is the first part of three. The people named here in the script are made up names but in part my dear mother gave me the story. |
